This class is designed to help make the work place as safe as possible and reduce your exposures to civil liability. These classes meet the training requirements necessary to comply with Part 46 of the Mine Safety Act for Sand and Gravel Operations.
In addition to the above, we can provide the following classes on an as-needed basis. Thes classes can be held on the STI campus, or we can bring them to you. Accident/Incident Investigation $59/person
Learn accident investigation techniques to recognize and evaluate accident causes and corrective action to prevent recurrence. A proper accident investigation process is based on finding facts – not fault.
Back Injury Prevention/Proper Lifting $59/person

Back Injuries are all too common in the United States and just as there is seldom one factor that causes a back injury, there is not just one approach to preventing it. This course will explore the many components of an effective back injury prevention process including management commitment, teamwork, assumption of person self-responsibility and ergonomics.
Blood-borne Pathogens $59/person
This course will teach trainees how to identify common symptoms of HIV and Hepatitis by listing examples of blood-borne pathogens and understanding the transmission methods of these viruses. Learn how to keep yourself and co-works safe.

It is designed specifically for operators of dump trucks, front loaders, and other maintenance vehicles.

Confined Space Entry $59/person
Few situations present employees with a greater potential for injury or death than those happening in confined spaces. This course will focus on how to comply regulations and provides training in respiratory protection.
Defensive Driving Course – 4 Hours $69/person
This National Safety Council course provides training for employees who drive company vehicles or use their own vehicle on company time. Participants will learn about collision prevention, common driving errors, property passing techniques, driving in adverse weather conditions, solutions for dealing with other drivers and a lot more!
Electrical Safety $59/person
This course will help you understand electrical hazards both in the home and on the job. Workers who will benefit from this session include safety and health professionals, maintenance, and all other employees who face a risk of electrical shock or electrocution.
Emergency Preparedness $59/person
This course will provide you with the background to develop a comprehensive emergency plan. Includes criteria for compliance with OSHA 1910.38. Covers critical topics including: What is a Disaster or Emergency, Legal requirements, Planning, Elements of Emergency Management, Writing the Plan and Business Interruptions.
Fall Protection $59/person
This course will enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and train them in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards.
First Aid-Red Cross
Be prepared and be in compliance. Learn the skills to maintain the life of a victim until emergency medical personnel arrive. The first aid training covers the basics: breathing emergencies, sudden illness and injury, bleeding and preventing disease transmission.

This course is designed to inform employers of all sizes of their responsibilities under the law. You will gain practical information on how to comply, including how to develop and implement an effective Hazard Communications program.
Lockout/Tag-out $59/person
Serious injuries and deaths can result from unexpected start-up of equipment if it’s not consistently locked out properly. It’s absolutely vital that you follow proper procedures any time you are repairing a machine, performing routine maintenance or cleaning it. Shortcomings in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are generally near the top of the list of OSHA’s most frequently cited violations.
Machine Guarding Basics $59/person
This class will introduce you to the principles of how to protect employees from machinery hazards and the requirements of OSHA regulations, subpart 0 and section 1910.147, which is lockout/tag-out. We will also discuss warning and instruction.

Trenching and Excavation $59/person
This course is designed to review and clarify revised OSHA standards covering trenching and excavating. Includes criteria for proper sloping and shoring of trenches under the federal OSHA standards. This course assists in complying with OSHA Standard 1926.650-652.
Office Ergonomics $59/person
How effective are ergonomic chairs, keyboard and wrist rests? These and other issues will be discussed, including: working with posture, workstation and seating design, vision and lighting problems and job design issues. It also will cover work-related musculoskeletal disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, bursitis, tendinitis and ways to deal with them.
Personal Protective Equipment $59/person
Hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs may all be a part of an employee’s required safety equipment. This course will address the selection, fit and use of various pieces of personal protective equipment, as well as, the care, maintenance and service of that equipment.

Suicide Prevention in Custody $59/person
This course utilizes material from the American Correctional Association. The goal of this course is to help staff prevent the tragedy of suicide from occurring in your facility. The American Correctional Association recommends all jail officers receive at least six to eight hours of basic training on identifying suicidal behavior and managing potentially suicidal behavior. They then recommend periodic refresher training.
Wheel Loader Safety $59/person
Wheel loaders operate in many different applications. This course will remind new and experienced operators on the importance of several safety factors starting with the daily walk around inspection. Review of lessons learned in many types of operating situations including correct operations on hills and rough terrain, side hill work dangers and slip or tip recovery and dynamics of rollover and backing accidents as well as night operations.
